Bring me your ARod Cards

There are quite a bit of Yankee haters out in the blogosphere.  There are a few Yankee fans though, including myself.  However, I think it is fair to say that almost everyone hates Alex Rodriguez.  I am not a huge fan of the guy.  But he is a Yankee and thus I must collect his cards.  I have a number of ARod cards but there is no such thing as too much.  So if any of you Yankee haters are about to burn your ARod cards, please leave a comment with your team/player.  I am sure I can send you something nice in trade.  And yes, I do feel a little dirty. 

Penthouse to the Outhouse

A few years ago, Alex Rodriguez was the first pick in my fantasy league.  I didn’t get him though.  This year, he was selected in the late rounds due to injury.  Today, something that would have been unthinkable just a few years ago happened.  I acquired A-Rod as a free agent after nobody made a claim for him on waivers.  How the mighty have fallen.  I love the Yankees, but I wish they could just dump A-Rod. 

New Yankee Additions

I purchased a lot of Yankee cards on eBay for just 51 cents with free shipping.  My math tells me that I paid about 10 cents per card.  The lot includes 3 Robinson Cano cards, an Alex Rodriguez card, and a Joe Girardi card.  I didn’t have any of these cards in my collection, so it was money well spent. 

Spare Change Spent Wisely

I recently won 5 individual baseball cards in 5 different eBay auctions from the same seller.  The total damage was 9 cents shipped.  There is really no common theme to these cards.  The first card is an Upper Deck X base card of Randy Johnson.  The next is an Upper Deck card of Alex Rodriguez showing off his quarter billion dollar Rangers jersey.  Then, there is an Allen & Ginter of Dan Haren.  I would rather have the base card.  I don’t care what his middle name is.  I can about wins and ERA and the like.  Next is a Upper Deck Spectrum card of Scott Kazmir.  Remember him?  The former All-Star was last seen playing independent ball in Sugarland, Texas.  Finally, there is Evan Longoria featured on a simple Upper Deck base card which is really a checklist.  Not a bad haul for the money.  This is better than some packs that run 5 bucks each. 

More Alex Rodriguez Cards

OK, so here is ARod lot number two.  This lot also cost me $1.04 shipped from the same eBay seller as the previous lot.  I received a total 16 cards in this lot.  I think my favorite card out of this lot is the Allen & Ginter.  It is one of the few cards showing ARod in a Yankee uniform.  And I just like Allen & Ginter. 

An Addition to My Alex Rodriguez Collection

My latest eBay purchase was a lot of 15 Alex Rodriguez cards.  Settle down all of you ARod and Yankee haters.  I paid $1.04 with shipping for the lot.  This is actually the first of two ARod lots that I bought.  I will show off the second lot in a later post.  These are mostly Mariner and Ranger cards but that’s OK.  I have been accumulating ARod cards over the past year or two for some reason.  Maybe I’ll sell them once he retires and buy a yacht with the proceeds.  Or maybe not.  But I paid less than 10 cents a card which is pretty good.  But the way, if you haters are looking to trade your ARod/Yankee cards away, let me know. 

eBay Mailbag: Alex Rodriguez

My latest eBay pickup is a 2010 Upper Deck Biography card of Alex Rodriguez. I paid a total of 6 cents shipped for the card. That’s pretty good for an ARod card. This was one of those penny auctions that I placed a bid on without any expectation of winning. For some reason, there were no competing bidders. To make this an even better deal, I paid using eBay Bucks. By the way, if you still have any eBay Bucks remaining, they will expire this coming week.

Flea Market Finds

So I made another trip to the local flea market this past weekend because I have no life. I walked away with some decent baseball cards though. I bought 22 Alex Rodriguez cards and 6 Albert Pujols cards for a grand total of $3.00. I can’t complain about a deal like that. The cards are mostly base cards but they are in great condition. Most came in top loaders and penny sleeves for some reason. I notice that most baseball cards at flea markets are junk wax with rubber bands around them. These vendors should save themselves the embarrassment and just set fire to these cards.

I Own an ARod Autograph!!

Usually when I make an eBay purchase, I don’t spend more than $10. However, I decided to splurge on my latest purchase. I was looking for a nice autograph in the $25 area. I started looking at a bunch of different players. I also looked at Alex Rodriguez autos which are admittedly more than $25. Most of his autos can be had for under a hundred bucks. At the end of the day, I purchased a 2011 Topps Tribute card with a triple relic and autograph. The card is numbered 58/75. The total damage was $73. Not really too bad considering. This is the new best card in my collection. Once I am able to replenish funds, I may purchase a Jeter autograph which will probably run about a hundred bucks. That won’t be for a while though.

Cheap eBay Finds

I do a lot of bargain hunting on eBay. Occasionally, I will pull the trigger. I recently purchased 9 Alex Rodriguez cards and 2 Derek Jeter cards on eBay for less than a buck including shipping. All of the Arod cards show him in a Mariners uniform, but that’s OK for this price. There are a couple of doubles but that doesn’t really bother me. Anyway, here are the photos of my bounty. Don't these guys look young?

Yankees Win!

The Yankees took a commanding 2-0 series lead against the Twins in dramatic fashion last night. Mark Teixiera had the game winning home run in extra innings. But it was Alex Rodriguez who made the extra innings possible with a home run against Twins closer Joe Nathan. This wasn't the first big hit ARod has had in extra innings against the Twins in ALDS history. In Game 2 in 2004, ARod had the game tying RBI against the Twins. Hideki Matsui would have the game winning RBI. And believe it or not, Topps has a baseball card to document the occasion.
