Colby Rasmus Autograph

I scored this Colby Rasmus Autograph with Game Used Jersey from a seller on Listia.  The card is from 2011 Topps Triple Threads.  It is serial numbered 18/50.  This card looks amazing.  It cost me about 7700 credits, so it wasn’t cheap.  But it was well worth it.  Rasmus is with the Blue Jays now, but is probably best known for his days with the Cardinals.

2013 Topps Pack Break

I finally opened my first pack of 2013 Topps.  I purchased a 50 card jumbo pack for the occasion.  My first card was that of Paul Konerko.  Other notables base card included Alex Rodriguez and Albert Pujols.  The rest of the base cards were decent.

I like this year’s design.  The cards are clean and simple.  You have the player name, team name, and large photo on the front.  I’m a fan of the white background with team colored border.  This jumbo pack was full of inserts.  I like most of the inserts.  Although I could live with more current players and fewer retired players.  I especially like the emerald green parallels.

The Million Dollar contest doesn’t really interest me.  I have already resigned myself to the fact that I am not going to win the million dollars.  Needless to say my contest card is for trade.  Overall, I was pretty satisfied with this pack.  However, I don’t plan on buying much of this product.  I will probably save my money for Allen & Ginter or Topps Heritage.

I Bought A Soccer Card

My latest Listia purchase was a 2012 Goodwin Champions Relic Card of Tim Howard.  Tim Howard is actually a soccer player.  This set covers the stars and legends of different sports.  It reminds me a little of the old Classic 4 Sport sets.  I am not a big soccer fan, but at 303 credits, I could not pass this up.  Plus, when was the last time you saw a green swatch?  As a bonus, the seller threw in a few green mini cards which was nice.

Pack Break: Panini Americana

For some reason, I decided that it would be a good idea to bust open a pack of Panini Americana.  This isn’t really a sports set.  But it was a nice change of pace.  There were only 5 cards.  In the grand scheme of things, I didn’t do too bad.  I think the Jackie O card is the best card of the pack.  I got two Presidents in Fillmore and Wilson.  The two athletes in the pack were softball player Lisa Fernandez and gymnast Carly Patterson.  I was pleasantly surprised with this pack.  However, my one complaint is that the photos are in black and white.  It can makes the photos kinds of boring.

Sam LeCure's Rookie Card

I picked up this 2010 Bowman Sam LeCure card for only 6 cents on eBay.  Supposedly, this is his rookie card.  LeCure is a reliever for the Reds so I don’t think this card will fund my retirement.  But it is a good looking which I may try to get autographed someday.

It's A Gustavo Chacin Sighting

I purchased this 2006 Topps Co-Signers Autograph of Gustavo Chacin on Listia for just 745 credits.  Chacin was a pitching prospect with the Blue Jays.  He spent time with the Blue Jays and Astros.  He hasn’t been in the big leagues since 2010.  I could have sworn he was still pitching in the majors.  I must have confused him with someone else.  He was in the minors for a couple of years and now finds himself in independent ball.

eBay Mailbag: Lucas Luetge

I purchased a pair of 2012 Topps Update cards of Lucas Luetge on eBay for just 6 cents shipped.  I had never heard of him prior to this purchase, but I couldn’t pass up the price.  Apparently, Luetge, whose name I cannot pronounce, is a relief pitcher for the Seattle Mariners.  2012 was his rookie season.  It was a so-so year.  But then again, the Mariners are usually a so-so team.

Does Jason Marquis Deserve A Silk Card?

My latest eBay purchase was a 2012 Topps Update Silk card of Jason Marquis.  The card was only about 2 bucks.  Marquis is a journeyman pitcher who is now with the Padres.  It seems like he has been around forever.  This is probably the most entry level of all the Topps Silk cards.  It probably shouldn't exist.  It is numbered 30/50.  The Silk cards are going to be different in 2013 in that they will include retro cards.  I am not sure how I feel about that though.
